Toyota Expands U.S. EV Lineup With Three-Row Highlander Electric SUV

According to a recent LinkedIn post from EV Co, Toyota has revealed the 2027 Highlander EV as a three-row battery-electric SUV for the U.S. market, featuring up to 320 miles of estimated range and up to 338 hp in all-wheel-drive form. The post notes that production and battery assembly are expected to take place in Kentucky with U.S.-assembled batteries, highlighting a deeper localization of Toyota’s EV supply chain.

The company’s LinkedIn post highlights that the Highlander EV will offer XLE and Limited trims with front- or all-wheel drive, a 95.8-kWh battery on certain AWD models, and a North American Charging System port to expand DC fast-charging access. Interior equipment is described as including a 14-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch driver display, Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, and flexible three-row seating with over 45 cubic feet of cargo space with the third row folded.

For investors monitoring Toyota’s broader EV trajectory, the post suggests a tangible step toward expanding the company’s U.S. battery-electric portfolio in a key high-margin segment: three-row family SUVs. Localized production and U.S.-assembled batteries could, if executed as indicated, support eligibility for certain incentives, reduce logistics costs, and improve pricing competitiveness relative to other mass-market EV makers.

The emphasis on NACS compatibility and DC fast-charging access in the LinkedIn content points to Toyota’s effort to mitigate one of the main adoption barriers for EVs in North America. If consumer demand aligns with the vehicle’s range and performance profile, the Highlander EV could help Toyota capture share from both legacy internal-combustion SUVs and competing electric crossovers, potentially strengthening its long-term position in the U.S. EV market.
