Tidal Cyber has expanded its leadership bench by appointing Cat Self as Senior Director of Adversary Research, a move aimed at strengthening the company’s core Threat-Led Defense platform through more granular, procedure-level threat intelligence. Self, a former macOS/Linux lead for MITRE ATT&CK and founder of the cyber threat intelligence team behind ATT&CK Evaluations, will steer adversary research and content strategy to help customers focus on the highest-risk attack behaviors rather than generic threat signals.
In her new role, Self will advance research that maps real-world attacker procedures to defensive controls so organizations can assess not only if they stop attacks, but where in the kill chain disruption is most effective, directly influencing security investment decisions and risk reduction strategies. The hire underscores Tidal Cyber’s continued investment in procedural testing and evaluation capabilities, with Chief Innovation Officer and Co-Founder Frank Duff emphasizing that Self’s experience translating complex adversary tradecraft into actionable insight is tightly aligned with the company’s mission to provide transparent evidence of how defenses perform against real attack execution.
