Switch bolstered its executive team with three C-suite hires: Steve del Cardayre as Chief Technology Officer, Brett Boghigian as Chief Business Officer, and climate-tech veteran Kaitlyn Qin as Chief Financial Officer. These leaders bring experience in industrial and agricultural biotechnology, commercialization strategy, and financial planning, enhancing the company’s ability to manage product development, regulatory strategy, and go-to-market execution. The R&D organization was further strengthened by the addition of Senior Research Associate Jose Zaragoza, while legal and regulatory readiness was enhanced with the appointment of Senior Counsel Liz Freeman Rosenzweig to oversee intellectual property, legal, regulatory, and government affairs.

Operationally, Switch relocated to a new headquarters in San Carlos, California, tripling its R&D footprint and consolidating fermentation, plant growth rooms, laboratories, and offices into a single facility. This expanded infrastructure is intended to increase experimental throughput, support larger-scale trials, and improve coordination across research, development, and business functions as the company scales its biofertilizer platform.

On the scientific and strategic front, company leaders presented at the Microbiome AgBio Tech Summit and the European Nitrogen Fixation Conference, showcasing work on microbial consortia and engineered genetic circuits designed for climate-focused, cost-effective biofertilizers. Advisory depth and external credibility were further strengthened by agrifood industry veteran Eric Bartels joining as an advisor and by the election of board member Doug Cameron and founding advisor Jennifer Cochran to the National Academy of Engineering. Internally, an annual off-site focused on communication, strategic alignment, and team building, alongside ongoing hiring, pointed to continued investment in organizational capacity.

Although no financial metrics or specific commercialization timelines were disclosed, the week’s developments collectively suggest that Switch is consolidating the leadership, infrastructure, and technical foundations needed to advance its sustainable nitrogen solutions toward field validation, partnerships, and future market engagement. Overall, it was a constructive week that improved the company’s readiness for the next phase of growth in the ag-biologicals and climate-tech sectors.
