Switch has entered a sponsored research agreement with Stanford University’s Center for Integrated Facility Engineering to refine how it plans, finances and delivers large-scale digital infrastructure, with a focus on AI data centers and advanced energy systems. The collaboration is designed to compress delivery timelines, improve capital efficiency for Switch’s AI Factories programs and develop new sustainability metrics for scaling AI infrastructure.
The work will apply Stanford’s virtual design and construction expertise and academic research on industrialized construction, including prefabrication, modularization and design-for-manufacture, to Switch’s existing data center development processes. In parallel, the partnership will test innovative energy system models and grid-integration approaches aimed at improving “grid-to-token” efficiency and long-term facility life-cycle performance, positioning Switch to deploy high-density, sustainable AI, cloud and enterprise data centers more predictably and at greater scale.
