Spring Health, a leader in global mental health solutions for employers and health plans, has published a groundbreaking study in the Online Journal of Public Health Informatics, marking the largest outcomes study in the behavioral health sector. The research highlights Spring Health’s ability to deliver significant clinical improvements, surpassing established benchmarks for evidence-based mental health care. Analyzing data from nearly 53,000 patients across over 500 U.S. employers, the study found that 92.3% of participants showed reliable improvement or recovery from depression or anxiety, with 61.7% achieving remission. The effect sizes for depression and anxiety were notably large at 1.61 and 1.82, respectively, more than double the standard psychotherapy benchmarks.
Spring Health’s President and Co-Founder, Adam Chekroud, emphasized the study’s role in demonstrating the effectiveness of their personalized, data-driven care model. The research underscores the value of Spring Health’s precision-matched model, which has expanded its coverage from 260,000 to 9.6 million lives over 3.5 years, enhancing clinical outcomes as coverage grew. Dr. Mill Brown, Chief Medical Officer, highlighted the platform’s ability to provide measurement-based care at scale, ensuring equitable care delivery across diverse populations. This study validates Spring Health’s strategic investments in a unified platform, offering comprehensive visibility and consistent results across all demographics. The full study is titled ‘Evidence-Based Mental Health at Scale: Benchmarking Retrospective Cohort Study of a Digital Employee Benefits Program for Depression and Anxiety.’
