SolaREIT has expanded its senior leadership team with the appointment of industry veterans Jay Carlis as Executive Vice President of Business Development and Laurie Mazer as Senior Development Advisor, moves aimed at supporting the company’s next phase of scale in solar and battery storage real estate finance. Carlis brings more than 15 years of utility-scale origination experience, including senior roles at Pine Gate Renewables and AES, where he executed over 1,000 MW of solar power purchase agreements with major corporate offtakers such as Amazon and Google, while Mazer adds over two decades of development expertise, having co-founded Formation Energy and helped build the U.S. platform and project pipeline at Lightsource bp. CEO Laura Pagliarulo positioned these hires as a core element of SolaREIT’s strategy to deepen its developer relationships and expand its pipeline of land and lease capital solutions heading into what she described as a pivotal 2026 for clean energy deployment.
For SolaREIT, which focuses on providing flexible land capital to solar and storage developers, the new appointments are intended to enhance both origination capacity and technical underwriting of development-stage assets as the company scales beyond the more than three gigawatts of projects it has already financed, representing over $5 billion in project value. Carlis is expected to drive growth in deal flow and strategic partnerships with developers and large offtakers, while Mazer’s development background is likely to improve risk assessment, project readiness, and structuring of real estate transactions across a multi-gigawatt pipeline. These additions support SolaREIT’s positioning as a specialized real estate capital provider in an increasingly competitive clean energy financing market, where access to land, lease monetization, and liquidity for project expenses remain critical constraints for developers. Executives and investors should view the leadership expansion as a signal that SolaREIT is preparing for continued portfolio growth and more complex transactions in U.S. solar and storage land financing.
