SkyFi has secured a $12.7 million Series A round to accelerate its shift from raw satellite imagery brokerage to an analytics- and insights-led geospatial platform serving government and commercial customers. The Austin-based company aggregates data from more than 50 satellite imagery providers into what it describes as a large “virtual constellation,” enabling users to access near real-time imagery, task satellites to capture specific locations at specific times, and increasingly purchase decision-ready insights rather than just pictures. CEO Luke Fischer positions imagery itself as a fast-commoditizing input; the strategic focus is on shortening the time from data capture to actionable answers for end markets including finance, defense, infrastructure, and insurance. This evolution has materially improved SkyFi’s value proposition and was a key driver of investor interest in the round.

The financing was co-led by climate-focused Buoyant Ventures and dual-use specialist IronGate Capital Advisors, with participation from DNV Ventures, Beyond Earth Ventures, TFX Capital and other strategic backers, reflecting SkyFi’s positioning at the intersection of climate, maritime, and defense intelligence. Originally targeting an $8 million raise, the company expanded the round multiple times amid what Fischer described as a record environment for defense-related investment, ultimately closing at $12.7 million when additional strategic investors came in. SkyFi intends to deploy the capital to deepen its analytics stack, broaden use-case-specific products for both hedge funds and government users, and onboard additional sensor types from new satellite partners, a process that has become “table stakes” as providers now actively seek access to its demand base. Leveraging a growing history of customer requests, SkyFi is building a feedback-driven software model reminiscent of Fischer’s experience at Uber Elevate, giving the company granular insight into what users want to monitor around the world while avoiding the capital intensity of owning its own satellites.
