Skydio has secured a more than $52 million order from the U.S. Army for over 2,500 X10D small unmanned aircraft systems, marking the largest single-vendor tactical sUAS procurement in the Army’s history and moving from bid to award in under 72 hours. The deal significantly strengthens Skydio’s defense revenue base and underscores the Army’s rapid shift toward autonomous, platoon-level intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities.
The X10D platform is engineered for contested environments, flying autonomously without GPS by using onboard navigation cameras to map terrain in real time while relying on a multiband radio that dynamically optimizes frequencies in high-interference conditions. Equipped with high-resolution visual and radiometric thermal sensors, the system is designed to give soldiers persistent day-and-night situational awareness from covered positions, positioning Skydio as a key supplier of frontline ISR technology to the U.S. military.
This latest award builds on Skydio’s earlier selection by the Army for both tranches of the Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) Program of Record in 2022 and 2025, making it the only manufacturer to span multiple SRR phases and signaling sustained institutional confidence in its technology and supply chain. The order, placed via Atlantic Diving Supply, demonstrates that Skydio can deliver at the scale and speed demanded by current operational requirements, providing a reference point for future U.S. and allied procurements.
All X10D units will be produced at Skydio’s Hayward, California facility, where each drone undergoes approximately 550 inspection checkpoints, highlighting a manufacturing footprint that is both domestic and quality-focused as volumes rise. Skydio, founded in 2014 and now used by more than 3,800 organizations across military, public safety, and critical infrastructure, is positioned to leverage this flagship Army contract to deepen penetration in allied defense markets and further invest in autonomous flight and production capacity.
