Skild AI, a burgeoning player in the AI robotics sector, is reportedly in discussions with SoftBank Group and Nvidia to secure an investment exceeding $1 billion, valuing the company at $14 billion. This marks a significant leap from its previous valuation of $4.7 billion in May, when it raised $500 million in a round led by SoftBank with contributions from LG Technology Ventures, Samsung, and Nvidia. Skild AI, established nearly three years ago, is distinguishing itself by focusing on a robot-agnostic foundation model, rather than proprietary hardware, which can be tailored for diverse robotic applications.
The company’s flagship offering, Skild Brain, was introduced in July, showcasing its capabilities in videos where robots performed tasks such as picking up dishes and navigating stairs. Skild AI has also forged strategic alliances with LG CNS and Hewlett Packard Enterprise to enhance its ecosystem. This development comes amid a growing investor interest in AI robotics, as evidenced by substantial funding rounds for other companies in the sector. The potential investment from SoftBank and Nvidia could significantly bolster Skild AI’s position in the market, providing the resources needed to expand its innovative solutions and capitalize on the increasing demand for adaptable robotic intelligence.
