Shield AI has announced a strategic partnership with European defense company Destinus to integrate its mission autonomy software, Hivemind, across Destinus’ aerial platforms. This collaboration aims to create a scalable, cross-platform autonomy architecture, combining Shield AI’s proven autonomy technology with Destinus’ large-scale manufacturing capabilities. The partnership is set to accelerate the deployment of AI-enabled unmanned systems to Ukraine, enhancing Europe’s defense resilience.
Hivemind will be integrated into Destinus’ Ruta and Hornet unmanned aerial systems, alongside Shield AI’s V-BAT, to enable real-time information sharing and coordinated behavior. This integration is expected to enhance reconnaissance and strike capabilities, with joint flight demonstrations planned for 2026 to showcase interoperability. Shield AI’s CTO, Nathan Michael, emphasized the significance of a unified autonomy framework in enabling distributed mission execution, enhancing coordination and mission success. The partnership aligns with Destinus CEO Mikhail Kokorich’s vision of combining AI autonomy with industrial scale to achieve technological sovereignty in Europe.
