RouteSense has officially launched with a roughly $2 million pre-seed round led by Redbud VC, positioning itself as a specialized data analytics provider for the payments industry at a time when Visa’s Acquiring Monitoring Program (VAMP) is raising the bar on acquiring oversight. The company’s initial product, Pathfinder, is a merchant identification (MID) health and transaction routing platform that consolidates fragmented payment data to give merchants, acquirers, processors, and payment service providers near-real-time visibility into MID performance. By continuously monitoring approval trends and network-defined health indicators, Pathfinder routes transactions toward merchant accounts with available capacity under current conditions, aiming to reduce the risk of non-compliance, fines, account holds, and forced closures that can arise when issues are only surfaced weeks later through legacy reporting systems.

CEO Stephen Martin said RouteSense’s goal is to replace guesswork with actionable intelligence as networks tighten oversight, while COO Colin Martin emphasized that VAMP’s monthly performance thresholds make timely insight essential for managing card-not-present portfolios. CTO Robert Matthews, who previously led engineering at Midigator before its acquisition by Equifax, highlighted the firm’s focus on predictive rather than purely retrospective analytics, framing RouteSense as an operating intelligence layer that can support global acquirers with continuous portfolio monitoring, risk signals, and lifecycle MID health management. The founding team brings more than 75 years of combined experience in acquiring, PayFac infrastructure, dispute tech, and real-time analytics, and RouteSense is currently onboarding select merchants, acquirers, processors, and PSPs. Strategically, the funding and product launch position RouteSense to benefit from increasing regulatory pressure, evolving fraud behavior, and the industry’s need for dynamic, data-driven transaction orchestration aligned with existing card network frameworks.
