Recurrent Energy Highlights Sale of U.K. Solar Project Backed by CfD

According to a recent LinkedIn post from Recurrent Energy, the company has reached a new milestone in the U.K. with the sale of Project Higher Witheven, a 42.5 MWp standalone solar project in Cornwall. The project is described as having secured a Contract for Difference in the U.K. Government’s Allocation Round 7, which the post suggests reinforces long-term value and aligns with national renewable energy targets.

The LinkedIn post notes that once operational, Higher Witheven is expected to generate over 46,000 MWh of electricity annually, sufficient to supply more than 17,000 households and avoid over 8,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. For investors, these figures point to a project of meaningful scale that could contribute to recurring, contracted cash flows for the asset’s owner under the CfD mechanism.

The post also characterizes this transaction as evidence of the strength of Recurrent Energy’s development platform and its progress in delivering high-quality renewable assets. From an investment perspective, successful development and sale of contracted projects can support capital recycling, enabling Recurrent Energy to redeploy proceeds into its pipeline while demonstrating its ability to monetize projects in a supportive U.K. policy environment.

More broadly, securing a CfD in Allocation Round 7 may enhance the bankability of the project and highlight Recurrent Energy’s competitive position in winning government-backed contracts. This could improve the company’s standing with financing partners and potential buyers of future projects, potentially underpinning growth in development margins and reinforcing its role in the U.K. and European solar markets.
