Razorpay announced that it is the first Indian payment aggregator to support card payments via Google Pay on its international checkout product. This integration allows Indian merchants selling globally to accept card-based Google Pay transactions from international customers, aiming to reduce checkout friction and improve conversion rates.

The feature is already live on Razorpay International Checkout and supports multiple countries and currencies, underscoring a focus on near-term usability rather than a distant roadmap. Wider adoption among export-focused Indian businesses could enhance Razorpay’s competitive positioning in cross-border e-commerce and help drive transaction-fee based revenue.

In parallel, Razorpay is hosting India’s first OpenCode Buildathon by GrowthX at its headquarters, an eight-hour AI-focused building session for around 100 participants. The event offers a prize pool of ₹100,000 in cash and credits and provides access to leading large language models such as Claude, GPT, Gemini, Kimi, Qwen, and Llama.

The buildathon is designed around tracks in consumer, revenue, and multi-agent systems, encouraging experimentation in monetizable AI use cases and workflows. By aligning with OpenCode, a widely used open-source coding agent with millions of monthly builders, Razorpay is positioning itself as a partner of choice for emerging AI-driven products and startups.

These initiatives may not have immediate financial impact, but they support long-term objectives in ecosystem building, innovation, and talent attraction. Overall, the week reflected Razorpay’s dual focus on strengthening its core cross-border payments offering while cultivating a robust AI and developer ecosystem to support future growth.
