Railway has closed a $100 million Series B funding round to accelerate its push to make cloud infrastructure effectively invisible for developers, positioning itself as an AI-era alternative to legacy cloud platforms. The round was led by TQ Ventures with participation from FPV Ventures, Redpoint, and Unusual Ventures, and will fund expansion of Railway’s global data center footprint, team growth, and new tooling aimed at both human developers and AI systems. Founder and CEO Jake Cooper said the company rebuilt both software and hardware from the ground up to remove configuration and operational burden, arguing that traditional cloud primitives are too slow and complex for the pace of AI-driven software development. Railway’s zero-ops model integrates networking, compute, storage, orchestration, and custom hardware into a fully managed hosting layer that remained online during recent outages that hit major cloud providers, underscoring its reliability positioning.

The company reports customers achieve up to a 10x increase in developer velocity and as much as 65% lower infrastructure costs versus traditional cloud platforms, enabled in part by operating its own data centers and charging only for actual usage rather than marked-up, overprovisioned capacity. Railway now serves more than 2 million users, is adding nearly 200,000 developers each month, and counts 31% of the Fortune 500 and numerous high-growth digital businesses among its users, contributing to 176x revenue growth and approximately 15% month-over-month expansion. Its marketplace of thousands of templates allows teams to deploy everything from simple web services to complex AI workloads without heavy DevOps investment, while still offering advanced controls for experienced engineers under a zero-trust security model with 24/7 support. Lead investor TQ Ventures described Railway as the infrastructure layer for the next era of software, purpose-built for an AI-native world, and the new capital gives the company firepower to deepen enterprise adoption, broaden its product suite, and pursue its ambition for “everything to run on Railway.”
