Qloud Games has shared an update. The company announced it has raised a US$5 million seed round led by BITKRAFT Ventures and GFR Fund, with participation from a16z Speedrun, 1Up Ventures, and Gaingels. Qloud Games, founded three years ago, is developing Loftia, an online “third space” game focused on community and social interaction. The team has grown to around 30 employees, and the company is running alpha playtests with its community as it progresses toward an Early Access launch.

For investors, the successful seed round signals institutional confidence in Qloud Games’ concept and execution, particularly from specialist gaming and technology investors. The added capital should extend the company’s runway through key development milestones, including continued testing and an eventual Early Access release, which will be critical for validating user engagement, monetization potential, and long-term retention. The presence of sector-focused backers such as BITKRAFT and a16z Speedrun may also provide strategic advantages in distribution, partnerships, and follow-on funding. However, as an early-stage studio without a launched product, Qloud Games remains exposed to typical execution and market risks in the gaming sector, including user acquisition costs, competitive titles, and the challenge of converting community interest into sustained revenue. If Loftia gains traction upon Early Access, the company could strengthen its position in the social/online community gaming niche and improve prospects for future funding rounds or strategic partnerships.
