Pyka has completed the inaugural flight of DropShip, a Group 3+ heavy-lift autonomous aircraft for contested logistics and multi-mission use, moving from concept to flight in just six months. Built on the company’s 1,400 lb MTOW commercial UAS platform, which has accumulated more than 10,000 flights in agricultural and logistics operations, the program demonstrates Pyka’s ability to quickly repurpose proven technology for defense and high-demand logistics applications.

DropShip combines hybrid propulsion, modular open architecture, and precision airdrop capability to support logistics, sustainment, and other mission profiles in austere environments at a lower cost structure than comparable platforms. By leveraging its existing autonomous flight software, electric propulsion, and flight control systems, as well as operational data from its first-generation cargo aircraft and prior contested logistics exercises, Pyka expects faster fielding timelines, reduced program risk, and more economical deployment for customers; ongoing testing will broaden the operating envelope with an emphasis on reliability and mission flexibility to enable near-term operational readiness.
