Nearly nine weeks into the Strait of Hormuz conflict, project44 reports that global supply chains are no longer just reacting to the disruption but are structurally reorganizing around it. In its latest Supply Chain Insights report, the company finds that vessel diversions have dropped sharply as carriers pivot from ad hoc rerouting to sustained avoidance of Gulf trade lanes.

According to project44, congestion that earlier appeared as a short-term shock is now showing up downstream, with port dwell times still rising weeks after diversion activity peaked and volumes on Gulf trade routes down more than 58%. Eric Fullerton, VP of Product Marketing and Data Insights, said this environment highlights the value of decision intelligence, enabling shippers to identify high-performing carriers on alternative lanes, anticipate where congestion will emerge before it becomes a bottleneck, and act on that information in real time.
