Polestar Targets Tesla Owners With Aggressive U.S. EV Incentives

According to a recent LinkedIn post from EV Co, Polestar appears to be intensifying its competition with Tesla in the U.S. market through sizable purchase incentives on its electric SUVs. The post cites reporting from InsideEVs indicating discounts of up to $21,000 on the Polestar 3 and up to $14,000 on the Polestar 4 for qualifying Tesla owners.

The LinkedIn post highlights that these incentives include a general discount for all buyers, plus an additional $3,000 “Tesla Conquest Bonus” for current Tesla owners or lessees who can verify ownership. Non-Tesla buyers also appear eligible for substantial reductions, reportedly up to $18,000 on the Polestar 3 and $10,000 on the Polestar 4 when paying cash or financing.

The post suggests Polestar is positioning its 2025 lineup as a direct alternative for Tesla drivers, particularly in the absence of U.S. federal tax credits that previously supported EV affordability. For investors, such aggressive discounting may accelerate unit sales and market share gains but could also pressure near-term margins, making volume response and customer acquisition costs key metrics to watch.

The described incentive strategy underscores intensifying price competition in the EV sector, with legacy and newer manufacturers using discounts to capture Tesla’s installed base. If effective, this approach could strengthen Polestar’s brand presence in the premium EV segment, yet it also reinforces the broader industry trend of margin compression as manufacturers compete for a finite pool of EV-ready consumers.
