Plus Power has signed a 20-year Energy Storage Agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority to supply 200 MW / 800 MWh of utility-scale battery storage from its Crawfish Creek Energy Storage project in Jackson County, Alabama. Under the contract, Plus Power will own the standalone facility while TVA controls charging and dispatch to meet regional system needs and bolster energy security.

The project, selected through TVA’s 2025 capacity RFP, marks Plus Power’s entry into its seventh U.S. state market and its first in the Southeast, extending a portfolio that already includes nine operating sites totaling 1,650 MW / 4,150 MWh across Arizona, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, and Texas. Construction at Crawfish Creek is slated to begin in 2028 with commercial operations targeted for summer 2029, creating an estimated 50–100 construction jobs and four long-term operations roles.

By storing lower-cost off-peak power and discharging during high demand, Crawfish Creek will provide TVA with flexible capacity and grid-forming services, including fast frequency response, regulation, and operating reserves to support growth in advanced manufacturing, data centers, and industrial loads across the Tennessee Valley. TVA views the project as part of a broader build-out of 6,200 MW of new generation to serve rising electricity demand and maintain low-cost, reliable power in north Alabama and the wider region.

For Plus Power, the long-duration contract with the nation’s largest public utility adds a significant, contracted asset in a strategically important corridor for military, aerospace, and nuclear industries, reinforcing the company’s positioning at the intersection of energy infrastructure and critical U.S. industrial demand. Company leadership highlights battery storage’s millisecond response and flexibility as a competitive advantage for meeting evolving grid needs, while the TVA partnership is expected to enhance Plus Power’s visibility with utilities and investors pursuing large-scale storage as a capacity and reliability solution.
