Persona AI has appointed robotics veteran Michael Perry as Head of Commercial Strategy, underscoring the company’s transition from R&D to scaled commercialization of humanoid robots for heavy industry. Perry will build the commercial and operational infrastructure required to deploy Persona AI’s robots into shipyards, steel mills, offshore platforms, and construction sites worldwide, where structural labor shortages in welding, fabrication, and heavy equipment maintenance are intensifying.
His arrival follows Persona AI’s recent collaborations with HD Hyundai and POSCO Group to pilot humanoid automation in shipbuilding and steel manufacturing, as well as a field pilot with the State of Louisiana in real industrial environments. Perry, who previously helped grow advanced robotics and physical AI businesses at DJI, Boston Dynamics, and Dexterity AI, said the key challenge now is not just hardware and AI, but creating clear business cases, integration roadmaps, and safe, scalable deployment strategies so enterprises can actually operationalize humanoids.
As head of commercial strategy, Perry will focus on scaling Persona AI’s go‑to‑market model, expanding strategic partnerships, supporting early adopters, and driving the company’s first production‑grade humanoid deployments in industrial workflows. CEO and co‑founder Nicolaus Radford said the company now needs an executive who can move robots from the lab to the factory floor and turn the technology platform into a sustainable business, positioning Persona AI to monetize its technology in some of the harshest and most complex operating environments.
Persona AI, founded in 2024 and headquartered in Houston with operations in Pensacola, is developing humanoid robots capable of using standard industrial tools such as welding torches, grinders, and power tools, targeting skilled‑trade tasks in human‑centric industrial sites. Backed by robotics and industrial technology investors, the company will showcase its approach to humanoid automation for heavy industry at NVIDIA GTC 2026 in San Jose (booth 7021) and through a keynote appearance by Radford at SXSW 2026, signaling increased market visibility and engagement with potential enterprise customers and partners.
