Pendo has appointed Zain Lakhani as its first chief AI officer, signaling a major strategic push to scale its portfolio of agentic AI products and rebuild its platform for AI-centric software development. Reporting to Chief Development Officer Saurabh Sodani, Lakhani will lead AI engineering and the rollout of production-grade AI systems across Pendo’s architecture, product roadmap, and partnerships, as the company aims to redefine observability and analytics for AI-driven product teams.
Lakhani previously founded and scaled AI engineering firm LightCI to 250 employees and $100 million in revenue in four years, and through LightCI’s partnership with Pendo since late 2025, he helped create Agent Analytics and Novus, tools designed to measure AI agent performance and automatically detect and fix usability issues. The appointment builds on Pendo’s recent AI momentum, including Fast Company innovation recognition, general availability of its MCP Server with distribution in major AI directories and marketplaces, and new alliances with Fin, Planview, and Atlassian to feed richer product context into third-party agents, positioning Pendo to monetize its extensive usage data and capture growing demand for AI-native product intelligence.
