The enhanced system uses AI to classify conversations by themes, tone, and narrative drivers, helping clients see not only what is being said but why it is happening and which actors are shaping the dialogue.
The company has broadened Smart Categories beyond basic text analytics to incorporate author reach, profile details, and location, while adding image and video classification to quantify synthetic media, detect IP misuse, and track how visual content propagates. Each category can be tuned to a specific organization’s risk profile and industry context, enabling targeted use cases such as detecting violent rhetoric against executives, separating bot-driven amplification from genuine customer feedback, and tracking brand favorability over time.
Initially launched in 2025 and already adopted by major enterprises, agencies, and public affairs firms, Smart Categories now emphasizes flexibility and speed, allowing users to preview how content will be classified, refine prompts in real time, and deploy point-and-click templates for workflows such as relevance, risk, favorability, and violent rhetoric. This design lowers the barrier to building bespoke intelligence models and aims to give decision-makers faster, more reliable insight into emerging issues.
PeakMetrics highlights its collaboration with consultancy Rational 360 as evidence of new measurement capabilities, demonstrating how Smart Categories can quantify complex concepts like trust among policymakers, political reporters, and Washington influencers in the healthcare space. That work showed a majority of conversations were skeptical of industry narratives, with a substantial middle ground that presents both reputational risk and opportunity for organizations operating under regulatory and political scrutiny.
CEO Nick Loui frames the product evolution as a response to an internet increasingly shaped by AI, coordinated networks, and synthetic content, arguing that executives need tools that distinguish authentic sentiment from engineered manipulation before narratives escalate.
