Origis Energy has completed and placed into commercial operation the Whistling Duck Solar Energy Center in Levy County, Florida, marking the fourth facility in the Florida Municipal Solar Project (FMSP) and the conclusion of its 300 MW Phase II expansion. The Whistling Duck project, owned and operated by Origis, adds nearly 75 MWac of utility-scale solar capacity dedicated to four municipal electric systems—Homestead, Key West, Lake Worth Beach, and Winter Park—under a structure where the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) coordinates the project and its member municipal utilities purchase the output under long-term arrangements. Together with the Rice Creek Solar Energy Center, which reached commercial operation in December 2024, Whistling Duck extends Origis Energy’s contracted asset base in Florida and deepens its role as a key private-sector partner for public power entities seeking long-term price stability and decarbonization.

The project’s completion enhances Origis Energy’s U.S. portfolio of grid-scale solar assets, reinforcing its positioning as a build–own–operate platform for municipalities and other wholesale buyers pursuing stable, low-carbon generation. Whistling Duck entered commercial service in December 2025, providing additional revenue visibility through power sales to participating cities and contributing to the 300 MW of solar capacity now in service across 13 Florida communities under the FMSP umbrella. Origis CEO Vikas Anand highlighted the project as a direct contribution to FMPA’s strategy to deliver efficient, predictable-cost solar power to its member communities, signaling ongoing alignment between Origis and public power agencies on scalable decarbonization initiatives. For executives tracking Origis, this milestone underscores the company’s ability to deliver multi-phase, multi-site utility projects for public power clients, strengthens its operational track record in Florida, and supports its broader ambition to expand renewable and storage solutions for grid power generation and long-term plant operations across the U.S.
