OpenEvidence has introduced Coding Intelligence™, an AI-driven coding capability embedded in its clinical decision-support platform to automate medical billing and help physicians capture revenue that is often missed in complex reimbursement workflows. The new feature, now live in OpenEvidence Visits for all verified clinicians, automatically generates ICD-10 diagnoses, E/M level recommendations with full medical decision-making rationale, and CPT code suggestions directly from the clinical note, aligning coding with the latest clinical guidelines while reducing administrative time.
By surfacing detailed E/M rationales and appropriate CPT codes, including less common procedure codes, Coding Intelligence™ is designed to decrease underbilling risk and minimize hours spent on documentation, which currently can exceed direct patient time for many physicians. The system also optimizes CPT sequencing under Medicare’s Multiple Procedure Payment Reduction policy by displaying expected RVU values for each suggested code, enabling practices to order procedures for maximum reimbursement without changing underlying care decisions.
