Nominal Expands Defense Footprint With HII Deal to Digitize UUV and USV Test Data

New updates have been reported about Nominal.

Nominal has secured a strategic partnership with HII to digitize and standardize test, mission, and digital-twin data for HII’s REMUS unmanned underwater vehicles and ROMULUS unmanned surface vehicles. The collaboration positions Nominal’s platform at the core of HII’s data workflows, from component-level testing through full-vehicle validation, enabling faster post-mission analysis, better traceability, and more efficient scaling of autonomous maritime systems.

Building on a 2025 pilot that cut some analysis tasks from hours to minutes and halved certain production test steps, Nominal’s tools will now be integrated across HII’s product lifecycle and manufacturing systems in 2026. For Nominal, this broad deployment deepens its role in U.S. and allied defense programs, expands its exposure to growing demand for undersea and surface autonomy, and reinforces its positioning as critical infrastructure for continuous test-and-learn cycles in high-scale, mission-critical production.
