Nominal has been selected by defense autonomy provider Forterra to serve as the core testing, validation, and mission operations platform for Forterra’s AutoDrive autonomous driving system, significantly expanding Nominal’s role in defense autonomy programs. Under the partnership, Nominal will provide unified data infrastructure spanning simulation, hardware-in-the-loop environments, and vehicle-level testing to support Forterra’s production-scale deployments across more than a dozen military vehicle platforms, including systems operating in combat zones.

As Forterra ramps deliveries for programs such as ROGUE-Fires and multiple U.S. Army ground autonomy initiatives, Nominal’s platform will standardize regression testing, real-time range validation, and post-test analytics across distributed labs and test ranges. The same infrastructure is designed to scale into fleet-wide analytics, anomaly detection, and sustainment planning across software versions and assets, reducing defect detection times from weeks to hours in mission-critical environments. Nominal CEO and co-founder Cameron McCord said the company built its system to let hardware-intensive defense teams run disciplined testing at scale, and the Forterra agreement underscores growing demand for modern data infrastructure as autonomous ground systems become central to allied defense operations.
