Navitas Semiconductor has partnered with EPFL’s Power Electronics Laboratory to demonstrate a 250 kW solid-state transformer (SST) platform for next-generation data center power architectures at APEC 2026 in San Antonio. The SST converts 3.3 kV AC directly to an 800 V DC bus in a single stage, eliminating bulky low-frequency transformers and targeting higher end-to-end efficiency and modularity for AI-driven data centers.
The EPFL SST demonstrator is built around Navitas’ GeneSiC ultra-high-voltage 3,300 V and high-voltage 1,200 V SiC Trench-Assisted Planar MOSFETs and modules, positioning Navitas’ SiC portfolio at the core of emerging medium-voltage data center distribution. Navitas’ SiC leadership sees this platform as a scalable approach to 800 V DC distribution that can improve grid-to-rack efficiency and enable heat-reuse concepts in high-density computing environments, with the HeatingBits project at EPFL’s own data center serving as a real-world testbed.
