Morse Micro has strengthened its position in Wi‑Fi HaLow semiconductors as Gateworks Corporation introduced a new USA-made M.2 module, the GW16167, built on Morse Micro’s next-generation MM8108 chipset and now commercially available through major distributors. The design win places Morse Micro silicon at the core of an industrial-grade module targeting global Industrial IoT and Edge AI deployments, with the MM8108 enabling long-range sub‑GHz operation (850–950 MHz), higher throughput and stronger wall penetration than conventional 2.4/5 GHz Wi‑Fi, potentially displacing cellular and proprietary RF in cost-sensitive, large-scale networks. By reducing the number of required access points and simplifying network architectures, the MM8108-based solution underpins a lower total cost of ownership for customers deploying smart factory, smart energy and security infrastructure at scale, which could expand Morse Micro’s addressable market in industrial automation, robotics and campus security.
The Gateworks module is designed as a plug-and-play drop-in for any SBC with a standard M.2 socket and is pre-integrated with Gateworks single board computers based on NXP i.MX 8M Mini, 8M Plus and i.MX 95 processors, giving Morse Micro immediate access to an installed ecosystem of industrial OEMs. Gatekeeper Systems, a notable retail loss-prevention provider, is already building its next-generation in-store infrastructure on Wi‑Fi HaLow from Gateworks and Morse Micro, providing an early reference customer in a demanding commercial environment. Gateworks executives publicly framed their partnership with Morse Micro as critical to delivering a robust, secure, industrial-grade HaLow solution, while Morse Micro’s CEO highlighted the GW16167 as evidence that Wi‑Fi HaLow is maturing into a core technology for industrial and edge deployments. Morse Micro plans to showcase the Gateworks module at CES 2026, signaling an active go-to-market push with ecosystem partners and reinforcing the company’s strategy to drive global adoption of its MM6108 and MM8108 HaLow chipsets across industrial, smart city and broader IoT markets.
