On the technical side, Moment Energy is bringing in Dr. Kandler Smith as Technical Fellow and Dorian West as Strategic Advisor. Their backgrounds at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and Tesla are expected to strengthen battery modeling, system design, and AI-driven battery management capabilities.

Commercially, the company has appointed Carl Mansfield as VP of Business Development and Sathvik (Vik) Tantry as Strategic Advisor. Both bring experience in behind-the-meter storage, virtual power plants, and scaling clean-tech businesses across utility and commercial markets.

These additions are intended to deepen Moment Energy’s intellectual property and improve system performance and bankability for customers and project financiers. Enhanced technical differentiation could make the firm’s second-life battery solutions more attractive to utilities, commercial users, and grid services providers.

The company also signals plans to scale deployments in North America and potentially globally, leveraging its expanded leadership bench. Overall, the week’s developments point to a concerted push to accelerate commercialization and strengthen competitive positioning in the emerging second-life energy storage segment.
