Modicus Prime has raised an additional $4.5 million in venture funding, bringing total capital to $8 million to expand its AI compliance platform for global pharmaceutical manufacturers and other regulated sectors. The round was led by Frist Cressey Ventures with participation from Silverton Partners and Oncology Ventures, following multiple deployments of Modicus Prime’s Trustworthy AI Compliance Software across pharma companies, CROs, CMOs, CDMOs, and adjacent regulated environments.

The company’s software acts as a compliance layer for AI applications in GxP settings, integrating with existing pharma tech stacks and quality management systems to create a single, audit-ready source of truth for regulators such as the U.S. FDA and the EMA. By translating requirements between data science, IT, quality, and compliance teams, the platform is designed to reduce operational friction, lower regulatory and compliance risk, and protect return on AI investments while enabling standardized AI use across sites and geographies with differing regulatory demands.

Management positions the product as an enabler of safer, scalable AI adoption that can help prevent costly quality control failures, a category estimated to cost the industry tens of billions of dollars annually, and investors emphasize its role as critical infrastructure to get new therapies through regulatory audits and to patients. CEO Taylor Chartier, a former engineer and data scientist at Shire and Bayer, has helped shape emerging industry guidance by co-authoring the ISPE GAMP AI Guide and BioPhorum AI Implementation publication and leading ISPE’s GxP AI webinar series, signaling Modicus Prime’s influence in setting standards for compliant AI in life sciences.

The fresh capital will be used to enhance the platform’s capabilities, deepen customer support, and scale service to international pharmaceutical clients facing growing AI compliance demands. Modicus Prime also plans to continue its involvement in educational initiatives with quality-focused organizations to upskill the pharma workforce on AI in regulated environments, positioning the company as both a technology provider and a thought leader in AI governance across biologics, cell and gene therapies, and vaccine manufacturing.
