Medsender Integrates With athenaOne to Automate Fax and Referral Workflows for Specialty Practices

Medsender has launched a deep integration with athenaOne, positioning its AI-driven fax and referral automation platform across one of the largest ambulatory EHR networks in the U.S., with the goal of capturing revenue lost when referrals are not scheduled. By embedding into existing athenaOne workflows, Medsender targets the operational gap where roughly half of referral requests go uncompleted and more than half of faxes still require manual handling, directly impacting patient throughput and practice income.

The software automatically ingests every incoming fax, applies titles, categories, and tags, and routes documents to the appropriate teams, while referrals are surfaced in a dedicated coordinator view that tracks patients from initial intake through scheduled appointment and syncs back to athenaOne. Medsender reports customer outcomes of up to an 80 percent reduction in manual front-office workload, up to 85 percent faster referral processing, and a two to three times increase in conversion of referred patients to scheduled visits, implying meaningful FTE savings and higher revenue capture for high-volume specialty practices.
