MasterClass has launched MasterClass Executive, an AI-native business education program developed with the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and in collaboration with OpenAI, positioning the company more directly in the executive and enterprise learning market. The selective, cohort-based offering targets working professionals seeking business and AI skills, with an inaugural cohort fee of $2,500 and an admissions process that includes a screener and skills-based challenge.
The program uses OpenAI-powered technology to deliver personalized instruction that adapts to each participant’s role, pace, and performance, with MasterClass citing internal research showing learning outcomes more than 60% faster than traditional methods and high satisfaction scores. Designed with input from employers including Bain & Company, Deloitte, DICK’S Sporting Goods, Zoom and several AI firms, MasterClass Executive focuses on financial intelligence, AI capabilities, modern marketing, growth strategy, and leadership, and aims to create a recognizable career signal for participants through measurable performance standards and planned access to OpenAI certifications.
MasterClass positions this launch as a response to its own research showing that 94% of workers believe job requirements are evolving faster than education systems, 20% expect their skills to remain relevant for less than two years, and 67% want clear career benefits within 12 months. The curriculum emphasizes direct application to workplace needs, including using AI to analyze P&Ls, test growth strategies, and surface new revenue opportunities, and is supported by live AI labs led by practitioners from OpenAI and other technology companies.
The company is leveraging its brand and content model by assembling a faculty that mixes high-profile business leaders and academics, including Ray Dalio, Mark Cuban, Indra Nooyi, Paul Krugman, Turing Award winners Alan Kay and Jack Dongarra, and professors from Chicago Booth, Stanford, UCLA and Oxford. While MasterClass Executive is not an accredited degree program and does not confer academic credit, MasterClass and Booth’s leadership frame it as a lower-cost, flexible alternative to traditional business school for the AI era, with optional in-person elements at Booth’s campus and a clear emphasis on immediate workforce relevance and employer engagement.
Strategically, this move extends MasterClass beyond its core consumer subscription model into higher-value, outcomes-focused professional education and strengthens its enterprise positioning via MasterClass at Work and related AI-driven products such as MasterClass On Call and MasterClass Certificates. By anchoring the program in AI-native delivery, brand-name instructors, and blue-chip employer validation, MasterClass is seeking to differentiate in a crowded executive education and upskilling market, potentially driving higher ARPU, expanding B2B relationships, and creating a scalable template for future advanced learning offerings aimed at professionals navigating rapid technological change.
