Manifest has appointed AI-focused entrepreneur and inventor Zack Avshalomov as Chief Product & Technology Officer, a move aimed at accelerating the company’s AI-powered platform for small and medium-sized businesses in sectors such as petcare, veterinary services, deathcare, and professional beauty. Since launching its first vertical in mid-2025, the Berkeley-based startup has expanded to serve more than 400 businesses and 15,000 employees, positioning the new executive hire as a catalyst to deepen product capabilities and scale adoption across these fragmented, service-heavy markets.
Avshalomov, who holds multiple ML and AI patents centered on novel “language markers” to enhance user outcomes, previously led product and data at ReUp Education, where he helped build machine-learning-driven systems to support college stopout re-enrollment before its acquisition by Avathon in 2021. Manifest founder Sarah Horn said his track record in turning complex technology into practical tools is central to the company’s strategy of enabling owner-operators to shift from day-to-day firefighting to higher-level business management, with planned enhancements spanning staff training, financial operations, and workflow automation for independent operators that lack enterprise-level technology resources.
