Lux Aeterna has closed an oversubscribed $10 million seed round to accelerate development of Delphi, its fully reusable satellite platform engineered for returnable payloads and rapid redeployment. Led by Konvoy with participation from several venture investors and existing backers, the round fully funds a Q1 2027 demonstration mission whose payload capacity is already sold out, signaling strong early commercial demand from defense and industrial users.
The Denver-based company is positioning itself as a core enabler of a circular orbital supply chain by pairing a flight-proven conical heat shield with a modular satellite bus designed for repeated reentry, ground refurbishment, and relaunch. This end-to-end service model aims to replace today’s one-way satellite logistics, reduce mission costs and timelines, and unlock applications such as hypersonic testing, on-orbit compute, and in-space manufacturing that benefit from asset recovery and reuse.
Lux Aeterna’s Q1 2027 Delphi mission is expected to be the first industry demonstration of a fully reusable satellite platform, with the spacecraft launching, hosting multiple payloads, reentering Earth’s atmosphere, and then being recovered for refurbishment and follow-on service. Management asserts this capability can structurally lower lifecycle costs and capital waste versus expendable satellites, potentially shifting procurement and mission design for both commercial and government customers.
The company has also secured strategic non-dilutive validation through a Space Act Agreement with NASA Ames and two CRADAs that support its reentry and thermal protection technologies, which may de-risk key technical elements ahead of the demo flight. In parallel, Lux Aeterna has formed a Defense Advisory Board to align its fleet capabilities with U.S. Department of War requirements for resilient, dynamic space operations, positioning the platform for future defense contracts and scalable fleet deployments if the 2027 mission proves successful.
