LiveKit Expands AI Voice Capabilities With Cross-Provider Voice Cloning

According to a recent LinkedIn post from LiveKit, the company has introduced a voice cloning capability on its LiveKit Inference platform in partnership with Inworld AI and Cartesia. The post suggests users can upload a single audio sample to generate a unified LiveKit voice ID that works across multiple text-to-speech providers.

The post highlights that this approach allows developers to compare how the same cloned voice sounds on different providers and to choose the best fit for specific use cases. It also indicates that, in the event of a TTS failure during a call, the system can fall back to the same cloned voice on a backup provider, aiming to maintain continuity in voice agents.

As shared in the LinkedIn post, the feature is available on all paid LiveKit Cloud plans, with cloning itself described as free and ongoing usage billed at each provider’s standard per-character rate. For investors, this may signal an effort to enhance product differentiation in the rapidly growing AI voice and agent market while potentially increasing platform stickiness and paid cloud usage.

The post suggests that improved reliability and consistency in voice agents could make LiveKit more attractive to enterprise developers deploying high-volume customer interactions. This development may strengthen LiveKit’s competitive position in the infrastructure layer of the AI voice stack and could support incremental revenue growth if it drives higher consumption of paid cloud and partner TTS services.
