Lemurian Labs is strengthening its leadership bench with the appointment of Java pioneer Kim Polese to its Board of Directors and MIT professor Saman Amarasinghe as Technical Advisor, a move aimed at accelerating the company’s push to build scalable, hardware-agnostic AI infrastructure. CEO Jay Dawani said their backgrounds in foundational computing platforms and high-performance compilers will help Lemurian design AI systems that remain performant, flexible and durable as architectures and workloads evolve.

Polese, known for guiding the early development and commercialization of the Java programming language at Sun Microsystems and for co-founding several technology companies, will advise Lemurian Labs on long-term strategy, ecosystem development and governance as it scales its platform and partnerships. She argues that today’s AI landscape is increasingly fragmented and siloed, and positions Lemurian’s universal, interoperable platform as a way for enterprises to reduce lock-in, lower development costs and improve portability across models and infrastructures.

Her experience serving on the U.S. President’s Innovation and Technology Advisory Committee and on the board of the Long-Term Stock Exchange provides additional governance and capital-market perspective as Lemurian Labs grows. For customers and partners, her role signals an intention to engage deeply with standards, policy and ecosystem alignment around open, interoperable AI stacks.

Amarasinghe, a leading figure in compiler research at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, will work directly with Lemurian’s engineering team on the evolution of its machine learning compiler and runtime technologies. His prior work on systems such as Halide, TACO, Simit and Tiramisu has helped define how performance-critical workloads are optimized across diverse hardware, and he views Lemurian’s compiler as capable of surpassing current ML stacks that are constrained by narrow kernel sets and limited architectures.

For Lemurian Labs, these appointments are strategically important to advancing its universal platform, which is designed to let organizations write AI code once and deploy it across edge, cloud and on-premise environments without being tied to proprietary hardware or software stacks. The enhanced leadership and technical advisory capacity supports the company’s ambition to reduce fragmentation in AI infrastructure, improve performance portability and position its platform as a core layer in the next generation of enterprise AI deployment.
