This development marks a significant expansion for the PI token onto a prominent regulated platform in the United States. The listing announcement, made the previous day, triggered an immediate positive reaction from the market, sending the PI price soaring.

Price Surges Over 30% on Kraken Listing

Following Kraken’s listing, PI rallied more than 30% during Asia’s morning trading hours on Friday, according to CoinMarketCap’s data. The token extended its weekly gains, with reports indicating prices trading near $0.23-$0.26.

Notably, PI was already available on exchanges such as OKX, Gate.io, and Bitget prior to its listing on Kraken. The move coincides with ongoing protocol upgrades on the Pi Network mainnet, including a Step 3 node migration on March 12 that will upgrade validator nodes to newer protocol versions.

What Kraken’s Listing Means For PI

Pi Network, a mobile-first cryptocurrency project launched in 2019, uses a trust-graph consensus derived from the Stellar ($XLM-USD) protocol, allowing users to “mine” by tapping the app daily within identity-verified security circles. Through its recent integration with the Kraken exchange, PI is expected to gain greater global exposure and access to broader regulated markets where it can be bought, sold, and traded.

The listing also increases liquidity for the network, tapping into Kraken’s large user base and liquidity pools, which can reduce price slippage on trades. Investor sentiment in the PI token has also strengthened following months of muted price action. This is reflected in the sharp price increase and heightened trading interest that came ahead of Pi Day after Kraken’s listing.
