IO River has secured a $20 million Series A round led by Venture Guides and New Era, with participation from S Capital and several private investors, to accelerate deployment of its Multi-Edge content delivery platform and push a structural shift in the CDN market away from single-provider, vertically integrated models. The company’s core proposition is a virtualized, neutral control layer that separates Edge delivery infrastructure from higher-value services such as security, traffic steering, and observability, enabling enterprises to operate across multiple CDN and Edge providers as a unified system and giving regional and telecom networks a practical route into global delivery. IO River reports it is already handling more than 200 PB of traffic per month, positioning the business as a scaled player in multi-edge orchestration and validating enterprise demand for redundancy, performance optimization, and cost control beyond what single-provider setups can deliver.

For customers, IO River’s platform consolidates configuration, AI-based traffic steering, and monitoring into one interface, reducing the engineering overhead that previously restricted multi-edge architectures to large platforms like Sky, Amazon, and PayPal. By decoupling infrastructure from services, IO River aims to expand choice on both sides of the Edge: security and application vendors can run consistently across providers, while enterprises can select the most suitable networks per region or use case, improving resilience amid rising concerns over outages at hyperscale cloud and Edge providers. Management and investors frame this as timely with AI workloads and latency-sensitive applications moving to the Edge, since IO River enables access to emerging AI capabilities from providers like Cloudflare and Akamai without lock-in to any single vendor. The new capital will support product development, global go-to-market, and ecosystem expansion, as IO River positions itself as the orchestration layer for a more decentralized, intelligent, and open Edge infrastructure landscape.
