Intactis Bio Corp has achieved a key proof-of-concept in biohybrid computing by showing that lab-grown human neurons can perform arithmetic operations and transmit the phrase “Hello, World!” when embedded in a custom hardware platform. The neurons, derived from induced pluripotent stem cells and linked to silicon via a multi-electrode interface, produced consistent, task-specific activity patterns across both math and language challenges, reinforcing the company’s thesis that living neural networks can be trained for structured computation.
The technical milestone is paired with a $250,000 investment from Nucleus Fund, capital that Intactis Bio plans to deploy to scale its platform, increase task complexity, and advance toward commercial applications in ultra–energy-efficient computing. Because biological neurons require far less power than conventional silicon-based AI systems, Intactis Bio’s approach targets a differentiated position in low-energy, scalable computation, supported additionally by non-dilutive funding from a SHIFT grant and Altitude Lab’s Trail Angel Grant, which together help extend runway for R&D and early commercialization efforts.
