Instacart is accelerating its shift from a North America–focused delivery marketplace to a global retail technology provider by acquiring Colombia-based fulfillment platform Instaleap, in a deal with undisclosed financial terms. The transaction gives Instacart immediate exposure to nearly 30 international markets across Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East, allowing it to sell software and fulfillment technology abroad without building its own last-mile delivery network in those regions.
The acquisition bolsters Instacart’s enterprise offerings, including its Storefront Pro commerce platform, which already powers e-commerce for hundreds of grocers, and its Carrot Ads solution, which supports retailers’ retail media and advertising strategies. Instaleap will operate initially as a wholly owned subsidiary while Instacart incrementally layers its own enterprise products into Instaleap’s client base, using the target’s technology, local expertise, and retail relationships to scale an “enterprise-led” international strategy and deepen engagement with omnichannel grocery retailers.
