Insta360 has rolled out a significant software update for its Flow 2 and Flow 2 Pro gimbals, aimed at deepening integration with both Android and iOS ecosystems and strengthening its position in the mobile content creation market. The release resolves historical Android constraints by adding native multi-lens access on leading models such as Samsung’s S26 Ultra and other flagship devices from Google, vivo, and OPPO, while also improving iPhone functionality with Dual View Mode and Apple Watch control to streamline hands-free, stabilized shooting.

By enabling ultra-wide and telephoto lens support through the Insta360 app, Flow 2 users can now capture full-resolution footage that matches each phone’s native camera output, improving use cases from live sports and concerts to professional-style vlogging. The update also accelerates Insta360’s 360 Panorama 2.0 capture, cutting stitching time by about half to roughly 20 seconds and reinforcing Flow 2’s position as the only phone gimbal delivering true spherical panoramas for instant social sharing and later reframing.

For iPhone users, Dual View Mode records simultaneously from front and rear cameras or dual rear lenses, generating multiple independent clips from one take and reducing the need for additional operators or extra hardware. Apple Watch control adds remote framing, mode switching, timers, and zoom via the Digital Crown, targeting creators and solo shooters who need to manage complex shots while staying on camera, which can increase hardware stickiness within the Apple user base.

On the Android side, a new AI Tracker enables subject tracking across all devices and apps, broadening Insta360’s relevance beyond traditional filming to video calls and live streaming. Flow 2 Pro gains additional professional features such as smartphone remote control from a second handset, multi-person tracking for group content, and Active Zoom Tracking that maintains accurate tracking up to 15x zoom, enhancing performance for sports, events, and performance capture.

Strategically, this upgrade strengthens Insta360’s ecosystem play by tying advanced AI and remote-control capabilities directly to its hardware, increasing differentiation versus commodity gimbals and potentially improving accessory attach rates to premium smartphones. The update is available immediately via the Insta360 app and the company’s website, and while no pricing changes are announced, broader compatibility and higher utility could support volume growth across the Flow 2 lineup and reinforce Insta360’s broader camera and gimbal portfolio in the competitive creator tools market.
