INDAQUA Highlights Leading Water Efficiency Performance in ERSAR Report

According to a recent LinkedIn post from INDAQUA, the water utility group is highlighted in the latest ERSAR regulatory report as achieving leading national performance in water efficiency. The post points to the “Água Não Faturada” indicator, which tracks network losses, and suggests the group reached an average loss rate of 10.9%, its best result to date.

The LinkedIn post further notes that the municipalities of Santo Tirso/Trofa reportedly registered a national historical low of 7.2% in water losses, with Vila do Conde, Matosinhos, and Barcelos all remaining below 10%. The post contrasts these figures with a national average loss rate of about 26.5%, equivalent to an estimated 190 million m³ of water wasted annually.

The post attributes these results to sustained investment, monitoring, and continuous improvement, implying an efficiency-focused capital allocation strategy. For investors, stronger network efficiency can translate into lower operating costs, reduced regulatory risk, and greater resilience to future pressure on water tariffs or resource constraints.

By outperforming national benchmarks reported by ERSAR, INDAQUA may be reinforcing its competitive positioning among Portuguese water and waste service operators. The emphasis on sustainability and loss reduction could also support access to green or sustainability-linked financing and align the group with European policy priorities on resource efficiency.
