HiTHIUM Energy Storage has strengthened its competitive position in long-duration energy storage by unveiling a kAh-level 6.25MWh, 4‑hour battery energy storage system that has passed what it calls the world’s first open-door, large-scale fire test for an LDES system at ESIE 2026 in Beijing. The system, built around the company’s ∞Cell 1175Ah cells and ∞Power BESS platform, has now been certified by UL Solutions under the latest UL 9540A 6th Edition standard, validating container- and system-level fire safety performance.
In the witnessed test, conducted to UL 9540A (2025) and NFPA 855 (2026) protocols, HiTHIUM’s 6.25MWh unit was evaluated under extreme conditions, including fully open container doors, 100% state of charge, back-to-back and side‑by‑side placement with only 15 centimeters of spacing, and disabled active fire protection, yet the fire remained confined to a single container and the enclosure retained structural integrity, demonstrating robust passive safety. UL’s certification is expected to ease market entry across major global regions and support international project deployment, while HiTHIUM’s Chongqing base—recognized as the first Lighthouse Factory for energy storage batteries and home to a dedicated LDES production line using more than 40 digital solutions including AI and AIoT—underpins scalable, consistent manufacturing as the company targets growth in safety-critical grid and utility storage applications.
