Harness is advancing its AI-driven DevOps strategy this week with the launch of a native Cursor integration plugin and deeper alignment with Google Cloud’s AI ecosystem. The company is positioning its platform as the control and observability layer for AI-generated code moving into production environments.

The new Cursor plugin embeds Harness’s AI-powered software delivery platform directly into the AI coding workspace, allowing developers to trigger CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and governance workflows via natural language. By connecting Cursor’s code-centric environment with Harness’s Software Delivery Knowledge Graph, the integration targets bottlenecks between rapid AI code creation and slower testing, security, and rollout stages.

The plugin leverages a Harness-hosted Model Context Protocol server and ties all actions to existing role-based access controls, OAuth authentication, and audit trails. Feature coverage includes pipeline orchestration, automated environment promotions with policy enforcement, real-time security and compliance queries, feature flags, cloud cost insights, and full governance oversight.

CEO Jyoti Bansal describes the move as addressing the “AI Velocity Paradox,” where faster code generation exposes downstream manual processes and risk. The Cursor plugin, combined with Harness’s Secure AI Coding integration, forms the basis of a broader strategic partnership aimed at governing AI-assisted development from code generation through production deployment.

For enterprise customers, the Cursor integration is available at no additional cost through the Cursor Marketplace for joint users, reducing friction to adoption. This offering provides a structured path to operationalize AI in software delivery while maintaining enterprise-grade security and compliance standards.

Concurrently, Harness strengthened its collaboration with Google Cloud and was named Google Cloud’s 2026 Technology Partner of the Year in the Application Development – DevOps category. The company is integrating Google Cloud’s Developer Connect into its Software Delivery Knowledge Graph to give joint customers an AI-ready, end-to-end view of the software delivery lifecycle.

By ingesting deployment logs, runtime telemetry, and application dependency data from Google Cloud, Harness aims to improve incident diagnosis, root-cause analysis, and ownership mapping in complex environments. The integration is built with enterprise-grade access controls, aligning with the security and governance needs of large organizations.

Harness is also deepening ties with the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, making its capabilities available via Google Cloud Marketplace and exposing its MCP Server inside the Gemini Enterprise app environment. The company has moved early to adopt Google’s Agent2Agent protocol, positioning its platform within an emerging agentic AI ecosystem for coordinated development and release workflows.

These developments enhance Harness’s exposure to Google Cloud’s customer base and AI tooling landscape, which could support increased platform adoption. Overall, the week underscored Harness’s strategy to embed its governed software delivery stack at the core of AI-driven development workflows across both Cursor and Google Cloud ecosystems.
