Harness has introduced a native Cursor plugin that embeds its AI-powered software delivery platform directly into the AI coding environment, allowing developers to trigger CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and governance workflows via natural language without leaving Cursor. By connecting Cursor’s code-centric capabilities with Harness’s delivery-focused Software Delivery Knowledge Graph, the integration is designed to close the gap between rapidly generated AI code and the slower, risk-prone stages of testing, security, and production rollout.
The plugin uses a Harness-hosted Model Context Protocol server and ties all actions to existing Harness role-based access controls, OAuth authentication, and audit trails, enabling governed execution without new access-management overhead. Feature coverage includes pipeline orchestration, automated environment promotions with policies, real-time security and compliance queries, feature flag management, cloud cost insights, and full governance enforcement, positioning Harness as the control and observability layer for AI-driven development workflows.
CEO Jyoti Bansal frames the move as a direct response to the “AI Velocity Paradox,” where faster code creation exposes bottlenecks and manual processes in downstream delivery, and the plugin aims to keep developers “in flow” while preserving enterprise-grade security and compliance. The release builds on Harness’s earlier Secure AI Coding integration with Cursor, which addresses the rising concern among security and engineering leaders about vulnerabilities in AI-generated code.
Together, the Cursor plugin and Secure AI Coding mark the early stages of a broader, strategic partnership centered on the end-to-end developer experience, from code generation through governed production deployment. For enterprise customers, the offering provides an immediate way to operationalize AI in software delivery at no additional cost, as the plugin is now available to all joint Harness and Cursor users via the Cursor Marketplace and can be activated using existing Harness accounts.
