Gusto is expanding its reach in the accounting channel through a new integration with Karbon’s AI-powered practice management platform, aiming to embed Gusto-powered payroll workflows directly into firms’ core operations. The beta integration, now live for U.S. Karbon customers, syncs Gusto pay schedules into Karbon, auto-creates payroll tasks with due dates, and gives firms a consolidated, real-time view of payroll approvals, client tasks, and deadlines alongside other client work.
For Gusto, which already serves more than 500,000 small businesses and is widely recommended and managed by thousands of accounting and bookkeeping firms, the move strengthens its position as the default payroll engine inside modern practices. By reducing manual coordination and cutting the risk of missed deadlines, the integration supports firms’ shift toward higher-margin Client Advisory Services, where payroll is a recurring, high-stakes offering that must be tightly integrated into practice management. Gusto executives highlight that connecting its client and pay-schedule data into Karbon should translate into fewer errors, lower operational overhead, and stickier relationships with accounting partners. General availability of the integration is planned for mid-2026, giving Gusto a clearer pathway to deepen usage among Karbon’s U.S. customer base and potentially increase payroll volumes and advisory-led revenue flowing through its platform.
