Greenlight Networks is committing more than $24 million in 2026 to accelerate its fiber-to-the-home buildout across Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and surrounding Northeast Pennsylvania communities, a move that will extend access to over 15,500 additional households. This will lift Greenlight’s regional reach to roughly 42,500 homes and businesses already serviceable, with thousands more expected by year-end, reinforcing its position as a key private broadband infrastructure player in the state.

The expansion leverages Greenlight’s 2025 acquisition of Loop Internet, which now operates under the Greenlight brand and provides a local operational hub in Scranton, more than 50 regional employees, and an established network footprint. Construction is advancing in phases through municipalities including Nanticoke, Drums, Hazleton, Kingston, Mountain Top, and others, while the company also deepens relationships with institutional and commercial customers such as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ training facility and Blakely Borough, which has secured fiber for eight civic buildings.

Executives frame the buildout as both a growth initiative and a response to structural demand for high-capacity connectivity driven by remote work, online education, AI workloads, and telehealth. Greenlight’s owned and operated fiber network supports symmetrical speeds up to 8 Gbps with no data caps, positioning the company to compete on performance and reliability as it scales. Regional business leaders, including the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, emphasize that the investment enhances the area’s economic competitiveness by enabling knowledge work and supporting small business digitization.

Looking ahead, Greenlight’s Pennsylvania strategy is set to widen further through its planned acquisition of FastBridge Fiber, announced in 2025 and expected to close by mid-2026 pending regulatory approval, which would add more than 75,000 additional passings in Southeast Pennsylvania and parts of Western New York. Combined with recent builds in markets such as Dickson City and Chambersburg, Greenlight now serves more than 320,000 households and businesses across New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, signaling a broader regional scale-up that could support future capital raising, partnerships with municipalities, and further M&A-led expansion.
