Go1, a leading content aggregator for learning and development (L&D) leaders, has released new research exploring the integration of AI in workplace learning. The study, titled ‘Who owns AI upskilling? Survey insights on AI skill adoption shaping a modern L&D strategy,’ along with the data report ‘Keeping Pace: Leading Learning in the Age of AI,’ provides insights from 1,000 learners and 1,000 L&D professionals across the U.S., U.K., and Australia. The findings reveal a significant shift towards self-directed learning, with employees increasingly adopting AI tools to enhance their learning experiences. However, the research also highlights challenges in governance and strategy, as only 45% of teams have defined AI usage expectations.

Go1’s CEO, Chris Eigeland, emphasized the pivotal role of L&D in facilitating responsible AI adoption, stating that while AI adoption is widespread, governance remains fragmented. The research indicates that 57% of employees have used AI-driven learning tools in the past month, with nearly 70% engaging with AI weekly. Despite the enthusiasm, only 14% of employees consider themselves advanced users, and many still seek a balance between AI-driven personalization and human interaction. The study underscores the importance of executive leadership in setting clear AI expectations and frameworks, while L&D professionals are tasked with designing strategies that align organizational goals with employee needs. This approach aims to build trust and ensure long-term success in AI-powered learning environments.
