Global Switch has entered into a new power purchase agreement (PPA) with RWE to secure long-term renewable energy supply for its London data centre, sourced from the Brechfa Forest West onshore wind farm in Wales. According to the company’s Chief Operating Officer, the agreement represents a key milestone toward Global Switch’s goal of sourcing 100% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030 and underpins power needs for advanced AI and high‑performance computing deployments.
For investors, this PPA strengthens the company’s environmental credentials at a time when hyperscale and AI-driven data centre demand is increasing and customers are under pressure to decarbonize their supply chains. Long-term contracted renewable power can improve cost visibility, mitigate exposure to wholesale energy price volatility, and support compliance with regulatory and customer ESG requirements. While financial terms were not disclosed, such agreements can enhance the competitiveness of Global Switch’s London campus for power‑intensive AI and high-performance computing workloads, potentially supporting pricing power, occupancy rates, and long-term revenue growth in a structurally expanding data centre market.
