Gecko Robotics has secured its largest government contract to date, signing a five-year IDIQ agreement with the U.S. Navy and the General Services Administration that begins with a $54 million award and could rise to $71 million. The Pittsburgh-based company will deploy its wall-climbing inspection robots and sensor systems across an initial set of 18 ships in the U.S. Pacific Fleet, creating high-fidelity digital twins to monitor structural health and guide maintenance decisions.

Under the contract, Gecko’s software will aggregate inspection data into living digital models of each vessel, enabling the Navy to detect emerging issues earlier, prioritize repairs, and shorten shipyard downtime, directly supporting the service’s target of 80% fleet readiness by 2027. With an estimated $13 billion to $20 billion spent annually on ship maintenance and roughly 40% of the fleet typically unavailable, the deal positions Gecko as a critical partner in modernizing naval sustainment while deepening a relationship that has evolved over four years from initial evaluations in Japan into a strategic, multi-year collaboration.
